It was in this vibrant setting that, back in 1956, Wilda Marie Fontenot Walker gave birth to Anthony Walker, affectionately known as "TW" – the one-of-a-kind creator and sole originator of the well-known Slap Ya Mama brand seasoning. This versatile seasoning is recommended for everything from popcorn to popcorn shrimp, breakfast to late-night snacks, and gourmet foods to French fries.

While running the family deli, TW embarked on a search for a seasoning that captured the authentic Cajun pepper taste without the heavy salt content. When he couldn't find one, he put his Ville Platte know-how to work and created his own.

TW's sons, Jack and Joe, were very young at the time, and they loved rolling around and causing mischief, as kids often do. The Walkers put their boys to work rolling an antique glass pickle jar around the deli floor, mixing the homegrown Cajun seasoning – a perfect blend of work and play.

The Walkers' Cajun seasoning quickly became a hit with the deli's customers, who soon requested to take it home. TW would often tell them, "When you use this seasoning, the food tastes so good, you'll receive a loving slap on the back and a kiss on the cheek for creating such a great-tasting Cajun dish." And that's how the Slap Ya Mama brand was born in Ville Platte.

Today, the Slap Ya Mama product line includes an authentic Cajun Etouffee Sauce, a unique Cajun Seafood Boil, a trio of Cajun Seasonings, flavorful Cajun Hot Sauces, and easy-to-prepare Dinner Mixes for traditional Cajun dishes.
